In this project, we merged two apartments to craft an expansive 3-bedroom family home in the heart of New York City. By cleverly reimagining a structural wall as a multifunctional centrepiece, we introduced a seamless flow while maintaining a strong visual focal point. Working within the constraints of a pre-war building, we modernised the HVAC system and electrical infrastructure to meet today’s standards.
The design transitions dramatically from a dark-toned entrance and hallway to a bright, open-plan living and dining kitchen space. The kitchen’s cabinetry, continuing the dark colour palette, ties the spaces together in a cohesive, elegant design.
As the COVID-19 pandemic impacted our clients' plans, we quickly adapted the project to suit their evolving needs. The completed apartment was immediately rented, with the tenants expressing interest in purchasing the property after falling in love with its thoughtful design and liveability.
